• About me

I'm a professor for philosophy of religion at LMU Munich. I work in the tradition of analytic philosophy of religion (well, broadly understood). My main areas of research are philosophy of religion, Chinese and Buddhist philosophy.

My work focuses on topics like the noetic character of mystical and meditative experiences; the ineffability of religious experience; the meaning of religious language, especially of non-literal language, metaphor, and negative theology.

I also work on slightly less traditional topics like the integration of non-Western thought into current philosophical discourse; post-traditional and naturalistic concepts of religion; secular spirituality; and global philosophy of religion.

Morbidly, I'm also interested in all kinds of questions concerning the philosophy of death and immortality.
